Why Do I Blog?

I've been tagged with another meme, okay so I was actually tagged last week but as you can tell I haven't been posting daily as usual. Last night Shawn was able to come home from the field and take a well overdue shower, get his laundry washed & enjoy a full nights sleep on a real mattress, not a real good one but better than his cot. I didn't know when he was coming home so I spent some of the day doing laundry, dishes & picking up around the house. I didn't do anymore 'overhaul' work on the house. I was not feeling well yesterday so I rested - a lot, well as much as the kids allowed anyhow. I think there is something going around. All three of us have a nagging head cold, not so bad today. Anyhow, I have two more memes waiting for me to post as well so I better get this one done already.

So why do I blog?
  • To keep in touch with family & friends. Before moving out of state I started this blog thing so my people could see what we were up to. This seemed like a good way for anyone who was interested in our goings on to keep up with us.
  • To brag about my kids. I love my kids and think they are the cutest, smartest & funniest little people I know. I love taking pictures and being able to share them with others is a lot of fun. This one kinda blends in with the first reason, seeing as how family & friends enjoy seeing them since we are so far away. Plus it's a great substitute when I just don't have the time or energy to scrapbook.
  • To share my story. So I don't have the most fantastic, amazing life ever - just an ordinary mom going from day to day in a pretty ordinary routine. But there may be something in my life that someone else can relate to or maybe even be inspired or encouraged by. Things that I post about such as being a military wife, sahm, grief over losing my mom, living away from family, being a Christian who struggles with her faith are my real life. If someone else is going through anything similar maybe just seeing that they are not alone will help them get through their day. **Disclaimer: I am not claiming to be an example to live by or to have reached anywhere near perfection.**
  • To work through my own story. This is like a journal to me. When I write, or type rather, things onto here I'm working through those feelings/thoughts/opinions/day to day rants. It's part of what helps me get through the day sometimes. Even if no one read it just getting it out helps. When others do read and comment with encouragement or understanding it helps even more. Knowing that I am not alone or crazy in my struggles/fears/worries/whatever feels good. It's also helped me to take a somewhat objective look at myself. I can see where I've grown and where I need to.
  • Because I can. Because Blogger gives me access to this page for free. And it helps that it is fun to do. I think I've gotten somewhat 'addicted' to it actually, thinking in 'blogs' and getting a really great visual in my head of what I want my blog to look like but knowing I can't get it until I pay someone to make it that way because you can't get free layouts like my dream layout but who's got an extra $50 min to justify being spent on a blog? Not me, not right now.

Well, I think that covers the reasons why I blog. Nothing too profound. It basically just boils down to something I enjoy doing - another creative outlet. Oh, I forgot to mention that this meme was sent to me by IRH. We don't always agree on things but the discussion is thought provoking & no feelings are hurt.

So TAG, you're it:

And those are all VERY good reasons. I especially like the reason "because I can." There is something empowering about blogging... knowing that you can say what you want/need to say in an easy affordable way... it's a personal pulpit.

Great reasons. Because I can & it's free would definently be considered at the top of my list. Of course now I can't use them...lol.

You forgot to add: I blog because I have a core group of people who are addicted to my nearly-daily entries and would be devastated if you ever stopped...
