Homecoming

While my hubby is sleeping in I thought I'd give a quick update. I picked him up from the airport Tuesday. He caught an earlier flight than we were anticipating so we both made it there about the same time. The kids were happily surprised to see daddy. I told them before heading to the airport what was going on but there was still some surprise. Michael was holding daddy's neck so tightly that Shawn could have let him go & he would have been hanging. Lydia was a little shy at first but quickly warmed up and and isn't holding back any love from daddy. A nice woman who worked at a restaurant near his gate offered to take a group picture for us. I didn't get as many pictures as I thought I would but I think we were all overwhelmed with emotion & distracted. So that's okay. It was about the sweetest moment. I'll have much to talk about later, maybe another morning when my honey is sleeping in. The skies finally cleared yesterday & the sun is shining so we'll be having fun with the kids. Thanks for dropping by!

Stir Crazy

Well I hope everyone had a much more relaxing day yesterday than I did. I'm not complaining, just wishing better for you all. I was in my sweats all day but by no means lazy. I cleaned almost every area of this house and it felt great. Though now that I've put that down in black & white I guess I have no more excuses for the future - darn productivity! Anyways so I was cleaning to get the house ready for hubby. Of course I should have kept the kids outside or in their rooms all day until he gets here if I wanted it to actually stay that way. I'm thinking a picnic table this summer would be a great thing & they could eat all of their meals outside. If we didn't have scary red hornet looking bugs outside I really would do that. Just thinking of how much cleaner the floor would stay makes me sit in aw. As you may be able to tell I'm a little unfocused and well, anxious. Depending on how his flights go I could get a phone call at any minute/hour/day saying he'll be at the airport in ONE hour. The airport that takes me ONE hour to drive to. So I've been obsessively cleaning, pacing and well just trying to keep busy so I don't just sit and watch the clock. And I know that he won't really care what the house looks like, I keep a pretty clean house and he knows that, but I miss him coming home & saying how great things look. I even miss those days he'd come home & ask what I had done all day...those days when I blogged & read blogs more often and things weren't always quite so tidy. I'm excited, anxious & nervous about him coming home. And I'm not complaining because I'm just happy to have him home, even if it's just for a short time, but having a more approximate time would be really nice. I don't like feeling on edge like this. It's like waiting for a surprise that you know is coming. Well I need to get off of here. Lydia is done with lunch which means I have to clean the spot under her highchair again. And I'm sure I'll find other little projects to keep me busy while I wait and try not to look at the clock and figure out flight times...

Thanks for stopping by! I'll post some more recent pics soon.

Happy Mother's Day

Today is a day of mixed emotions for me. I'm thankful for the two loud mouths, four sticky grabby hands, two spunky personalities, four feet running around, four bright eyes and two big smiles that make me a mommy. Through all of the diaper changes, disciplining and cleaning up after my kids bring a smile to my face and a unique love to my heart. I love the phases that each are in. Michael is growing up so much and becoming more independent. Lydia is growing out of being a baby and running full speed into toddlerhood.

At the same time I think of my mom and how much I miss her. Over a year after her sudden and tragic death and I still have the quick thought to call her up or send her pictures. My heart aches. This year is especially difficult because the preliminary trial for her murderer is just two days away. I'm glad that it's finally happening, leading up to this point sometimes it felt like justice would never be served. But at the same time it's difficult. I would like to be at the trial but of course that can't happen. Also being that it's a preliminary trial justice still won't be served and it could take up to another year before the actual trial begins.

This year I have something else to look forward to though. My husband is on his way home for R&R so I am excited and distracted from some of my thoughts with last items to check of my list of things to do. Yesterday a couple of teenagers came asking if I wanted my yard mowed & edged so I happily took them up on their offer. So today I just have laundry, the floors, some organizing and cleaning to do.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day no matter who you are spending it with. I'm sending out ((hugs)) and prayers to those who are saddened by the loss of their mother, a child or the dream of having children being unfulfilled. I hope you all get some time to relax and be pampered in some way. If no one is home to pamper you then treat yourself to a warm bubble bath, dinner out or order in - anything that you would enjoy.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hellooooo, Anybody Out There??

Wow, so almost another month has past without me blogging. I don't purposely avoid my blog, I just don't think about it nearly so often - stating the obvious I know. I'm not super busy that I don't have time to blog more regularly but I'm not much inspired or motivated? Not that my posts exude of inspiration but I think you know what I mean. Life has been happening and I've been {for the most part} enjoying it. I'll give you a quick bulleted update for now & maybe one day soon I'll get back to being more bloggy.
  • Michael starts part day preschool today - he is very excited and so am I. I will have three hours a day two days a week with only one child in tow.
  • Michael is finally potty training, still making progress but he's much more interested than he was.
  • I earned another 'promotion' in my business. I can now wear my Red Jacket to meetings & company events and am only one recruit away from my next promotion & commission increase.
  • Lydia {mostly} sits still while I put her hair up in one or two little pony tails - so cute!
  • Hubby is doing well and should be getting a promotion next month.
  • We're getting closer to R&R - though I can't give out specific dates.
Well I guess that's most of the highlights. I've also done some more organizing - still no paint or curtains in the kitchen, I'd like to work on the curtains at least. I have several projects that I'm hoping to finish before Shawn comes home while leaving me plenty to do after he leaves again. I hope everyone is doing well & I'll try to browse around some blogs over the next few days. Thanks for visiting & checking in on me!

And here are some pictures of the paint can I made for my sister's shower. She's using it in the nursery to hold the baby's headbands, brushes, hats - all things related to the head. I forgot to take pictures of the letters so I'm waiting to get a picture from my sis.
