YAY Blogger!

Have ya'll checked out all of the new features on blogger? There are some changes that made me really happy. :D Last weekend while folding avoiding laundry I made some changes to my blog, switched up my labels and well just goofed around on here. It had been a while since I changed my layout around and after I did I realized I would lose all of that HTML code I spent so much time searching for & figuring out how to put it in - stuff that made my labels into a cloud & whatnot. After failing to find code again. I discovered that blogger now has all of it right there in the edit layout section!

  • You can now change the "written by" section of your post
  • along with "comments"
  • and even give people a quick response option.
  • {I didn't add that option so you'll have to write if you want to respond}
  • lol
  • This can all be done by clicking edit on Blog Post section in Layout

Some other things you can do
  • Format your labels into a list or cloud form
  • {I think they should make it easier to change labels so you don't have to go through 300+ posts to make changes}
  • Or maybe I should just be a little less O about my CDO
  • :P
  • If you go to Settings, then Basic you can choose the updated post editor
  • We can schedule posts!
  • there are some other options that I don't understand so it doesn't matter.
  • the BEST new function in here
  • there's a strikethrough button.
  • SO I no longer have to look up code because I can't remember it from 5 min ago.
  • YAY!!
Just thought I'd share the super user friendly new features! Happy November!

OH & if you want to smile/laugh/bring back memories/just rock out - check out #20 on my play list. It makes me happy. I can't explain why. I fully acknowledge that probably makes me strange but I'm okay with that.

Hellooooo, Anybody Out There??

Wow, so almost another month has past without me blogging. I don't purposely avoid my blog, I just don't think about it nearly so often - stating the obvious I know. I'm not super busy that I don't have time to blog more regularly but I'm not much inspired or motivated? Not that my posts exude of inspiration but I think you know what I mean. Life has been happening and I've been {for the most part} enjoying it. I'll give you a quick bulleted update for now & maybe one day soon I'll get back to being more bloggy.
  • Michael starts part day preschool today - he is very excited and so am I. I will have three hours a day two days a week with only one child in tow.
  • Michael is finally potty training, still making progress but he's much more interested than he was.
  • I earned another 'promotion' in my business. I can now wear my Red Jacket to meetings & company events and am only one recruit away from my next promotion & commission increase.
  • Lydia {mostly} sits still while I put her hair up in one or two little pony tails - so cute!
  • Hubby is doing well and should be getting a promotion next month.
  • We're getting closer to R&R - though I can't give out specific dates.
Well I guess that's most of the highlights. I've also done some more organizing - still no paint or curtains in the kitchen, I'd like to work on the curtains at least. I have several projects that I'm hoping to finish before Shawn comes home while leaving me plenty to do after he leaves again. I hope everyone is doing well & I'll try to browse around some blogs over the next few days. Thanks for visiting & checking in on me!

And here are some pictures of the paint can I made for my sister's shower. She's using it in the nursery to hold the baby's headbands, brushes, hats - all things related to the head. I forgot to take pictures of the letters so I'm waiting to get a picture from my sis.

So I Had Some Thoughts

"Had" being the key word. I haven't been posting as regularly as I used to or reading blogs so often either. I'm okay with that though. We've been working on getting back into a routine, I've had more Mary Kay appointments and the weather is much nicer some days lately so we've been getting out of the house. On the other hand I do miss my internet 'friends' and do want to check in more than I have been. After the hacked e-mail fiasco I changed the e-mail associated with my blogger account but forgot to change the e-mail that comments are sent to . So I was quite surprised to see so many comments when I looked at my blog one day. I thought any readers I may have left went to find a more regular blogger or one with more interesting things to say - couldn't blame you on either count. So like I was saying the other night watching one of the fluff TV shows I watch before bed I had some thoughts that I was going to share and have completely forgotten them. Seriously, if it's not in my planner or my little notebook I keep with me at all times I don't remember it anymore. Someone has been telling me it's part of the aging process but I'm in denial and blaming it on my children. Instead I'll address some of the comments/questions that have been left for me over the last however far I go back.

First off, I still don't know what motivated the hacker to get into my accounts. The only "logical" reason I can think of is they were hoping to get some financial information and when they didn't find that they decided to harass friends on my messenger for their password information - posing as me of course. I've decided they must have been a very sad person who has no life of their own and nothing better to do. I'm just glad it's over and have tightened up security on all of my accounts.

It's been pointed out that the countdown to see my husband is fast approaching and it is! We still don't have official dates for his R&R but it's closer than it's ever been and I'm VERY excited about that. I am SO looking forward to picking him up from the airport and having him home, even if it's only a couple of weeks. I think we all need a little break of "normal" right about now. I think R&R will greatly help me get through the rest of the deployment - however long that ends up being.

Thank you all again for your sweet comments of support for my husband, myself and my family. It is so refreshing to hear that politics set aside people still support & appreciate our troops and the sacrifices that they & their families make for this great country as ours. As imperfect as it is I am so blessed to live where we have the freedoms to voice our opinion {whatever that may be} and take a stand.

I'm glad so many people like the playlist I put up. I've had fun with it and often listen to it while cleaning house or playing with the kids. And yes, I am still cleaning house even though I haven't been SMART posting. SMARTing is being put on hold for a while. I actually seem to be doing better overall around the house than when I was hyper focused on one or two new 'habits'. I do still want to post Sunday Scrap - whenever I actually scrap again. Time to get some things organized & schedule that time in for myself too.

Okay well I think that's about the longest catching up "hereswhatI'vebeenupto" post so I'll say see ya later. Thanks for stopping by!

Inquiring Minds

You all are a curious bunch. And I like that but I'm not very good at answering questions in the comments so I thought I' do that today. Plus I haven't posted since Sunday. I've been busy around the house and with my business. Will share more on both in another post. Onto the Q&A

In response to the video of the song "Christmas in Fallujah" Christine had this to say: "It's definately though provoking. It's sad, but I can see his point about the "sea of oil" and that our troops might feel like they are there for the wrong reasons, or no reason at all. Especially if their country isn't supporting them. Well I think you do a great job of supporting the troops and your husband and I hope to also. Thank you for sharing that. And will you be sharing YOUR thoughts on this? Just wondered what you thought..." Yes, I will be posting my thoughts on the song. I had planned on doing that sooner than it will end up being but life happens. Also, I still need to gather my thoughts on the song, thought provoking describes it perfectly.

In response to my SMARTy post Valley Girl had this to say: "That's right -- it takes time to develop good habits. And it looks like you're well on the way. Congratulations on getting some serious stuff done!!!! It always amazes me how great that feels and yet that it's still always a struggle! ;) Keep it up! (I hope you'll share pictures to show off your decorating efforts!!)" Thank you! And the answer is yes! I will be sharing pictures of the kitchen when it is complete, or mostly complete anyway - home projects are rarely finished for long, at least for me. But when I have a camera that doesn't take blurry photos and paint on my walls you'll see pictures. Until there is paint I will be sharing highlights of the kitchen - again, when I have the camera which should be sooner than later.

In response to my Scrappy Sunday post Leendaluu had this to say : "rebecca--that is a really cute album but for the uninitiated among us (ok, me). What is a paperbag album?" Similarly GeorgiaBellBoutique said, "Love it! What a great gift. I have to learn how to do that! It is really fantastic! Let us know how your business goes and good luck!" And Just Me said "What a nice gift to give to your dad and step mom. :) It looks great! I'm going to have to learn how to do that. :)" First, thank you! Second - I will be doing a paperbag album tutorial, with pictures, soon. And by soon I mean as soon as I have the time & I find the sticker sheets I want for several projects. Not giving away any details yet though. ;)

Thanks so much for all of your comments, questions & concerns. ;) It really is a lot of fun having so many people reading this blog - definitely not what I had anticipated when I first started. Thanks for stopping by!

Do You Have a New Calendar?

If you don't you aren't alone. I still haven't got a new planner for this year - which is going to drive me nuts when I get home and start having things on my schedule again. I leave to go back home in just a few short days so I probably won't be posting again until sometime after 12-3pm on the 7th when my cable/internet/{& now phone} is reconnected. I hope you all had a safe & happy New Years celebration. I'll do my best to share our holidays after getting back home. I usually don't set resolutions but after reading a blog tonight I'm rethinking that whole thing. She wrote about her intentions and I may do something along those lines. Anyways, more on that later. Thanks for visiting & esp commenting. I am approaching my one year mark and it still seems strange that people who have never met me care to visit & see how I'm doing. All of the thoughts, prayers & encouragement for my family over this time - esp the past few months - has really meant a lot to me. The world doesn't feel so big and I have enjoyed feeling not so far from friends.
Thanks for visiting!

Merry Christmas to All & to All a Good Bye

But only for a couple days - I promise! I still have some homemade gifts to make & wrap today. I know we'll be busy over the next few days so I'll be back sometime after Christmas. Though I'll likely wait until I'm back home to share our Christmas with you. My sister & her hubby get here two days after Christmas so there will be much activity then. Here's a sneak at something I have to talk about.

I wish you & your family a Merry Christmas! Thanks for stopping by.

The Week Where I Try To Enter As Many Contests As Possible {part 2}

It's back, the giveaway that sucked me into my computer for a week over the summer is back, except now it's fall & this week is busier than my summer week was. I was really wanting to participate as a person giving away things this time around but it came so quickly and I have a lot going on right now. So I'll just be trying to enter as many contests {that I'm truly interested in the prize} as I can, cross my fingers {><} and hope to win something! If you click on the button with the pretty fall leaves you can see the nearly 500 {and growing I'm sure} contests already up and enter some yourself, if I don't win I'd love if you, one of my readers, did! I can't believe I didn't see this yesterday, I could have had so many entered already! Ah well, that is done so I'll do my best with what I've got left of my busy week. One giveaway I wanted to highlight is Life, Love & Some Goldfish Crackers - cute title huh? Amber is giving away a copy of the book "A Busy Mom's Guide to Bible Study". I'm very interested in this book! My devotional time is pretty much non existent at this point. I find myself distracted by many things, tangible & not.

Another fun giveaway is being held at The Apronista. They are giving away a super cute reversible halter style apron. Oh & the site they have linked has SO many styles of aprons, bib, halter, gardening, half aprons - some are fancy enough they could be a skirt! Well, if they had a closed back they could. ;)

Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow

Especially when I am moving into my great new house! I know I haven't been posting much or reading many blogs often but I haven't forgotten my lovely internet friends. I have been busy packing & getting ready for our move and tomorrow is the big day. I got my keys today & moved a few boxes over but the rest will go tomorrow. Tomorrow my internet will be disconnected & I'll have to wait for an appointment to reconnect at the new house, though I'm not sure when that will be yet. I can promise that I won't pull a Heather on you - it's been nearly 5 months girl! Get your connection already. ;) I do hope that the time without internet will help me to sort through, unpack & decorate more quickly. When I return I should have pictures, not promising of what but I'll have pictures.

Thanks again for all of the encouragement & support! See ya soon!

More Contests

With over 500 comments I know it's a long shot but I'll give it a shot anyway. I would love to have this little printer at my fingertips. Often times I sit down to scrap & realize I didn't print one photo in a set that I want to use or think it would be nice to have a 5x7. This thing also does 4x8 photo cards or panoramic 4x12. I'm getting fun ideas for my scrapbooks already. If you'd like a shot at getting this printer go to 5 Minutes for Mom and enter. Contest ends Monday, Sept. 10th.

Another contest is giving away copies of her new book "Sushi for One", basket of more books & IPods - 3 IPods to be exact. Go check out Camy's Loft for more details on how you can win. If you decide to enter tell her that beccalynn613 {yahoo id} referred you. :)

Some More Giveaways

While browsing blogs today I read this blog that was linked to this blog with tons of giveaways listed. And of course I entered as many as I could. I know - what are the chances right? Well, in the dog days of summer bloggy giveaway I won my fancy new header for my blog from this cool chick. Before that I won this great gift for my dad from these sweet ladies and a new mouse pad from this smart woman. And I just found out that I won a contest over here at this awesome site. {More on that in a future post!} So while my chances may be slim to none it's still fun. You can check out Laura's blog to see all of the giveaways she has listed. I'll highlight two them -of it's part of the requirement of entering & it's fun.

The first is Handbag Love where Scribblescratch is giving away this pretty bag you see on the right. Who doesn't love a fun new handbag? If you don't you could still win it and give it away as a gift to someone and make their day. If you don't have any friends who like handbags then let me know and you can send it my way. I'll even pay for shipping & send you a thank you card - promise!

The next highlight is a $25 Mastercard given away by Christian Stay At Home Moms blog. What would you buy with $25 guilt free spending money? I'd want to head straight to my local scrapbook store because $25 doesn't go far in the clothing department, but I could stock up on Bazzil and get some fun new stamps & paint!

So go & check out these fun giveaways and see if you win something. Hey, if I {who never wins anything} can win stuff then so can you. It's all about the luck in the random generator or the draw - however they do it!

Updated: I found another one! When Michael was a baby shopping for clothes was fun enough but there weren't any extra frills beyond a cute hat. Now that I have a daughter that has all changed. Look at what I found, did you look? Seriously - you must look. Okay, now aren't those just about the most adorable little things? And they don't slip out of their hair. Lydia has got fine baby hair, pony tails don't last long and the velcro clips I have fall out all the time. I know I want to get my little girl some, if you know a little girl {or a mother of a girl} who would love them check out MomViews.

POP! Quiz

Can you figure out what this item is & what happened to it before taking this picture? There's no prize but you can get bragging rights. Heck I'll even make a little button for you to stick on your blog if you'd like. Not a fancy button but it's not a fancy contest so it works. If you're participating in Wordless Wednesday please leave a comment so I can visit your blog. {This is wordless for me, I'm not a girl of few words} :P

Updated: Most of you got it right. This was a deck of {barely used} cards that were in a pocket on hubby's uniform and went through the washer & dryer. His pants have about 30, okay maybe 8 pockets but it can still be easy to miss checking one while doing laundry. Thanks for visiting! Off to visit you now.

Something You Need To Know

Today is National Girlfriends Day! Happy day to all my girlfriends out there - esp my best girlfriend Chriss and my lil' sis Shell {even though she never reads this}. Spend some time with your girlfriend today - I wish I could! So I've been trying to remember a post that I had thought of a few days ago. I really should write these things down. I've completely forgotten what it was except for the title, something like "Is It Just Me?" Sigh. While I was browsing around I came found a blog that had information worth spreading. I think it's fitting for girlfriends day as well. Please read the following. It is from WhyMommy at Toddler Planet. You are welcomed & encouraged to share this information on your blog as well. Women need to be informed. Say a prayer for WhyMommy & her family when you think of her. And you can link to Team WhyMommy by clicking the button on my sidebar.

We hear a lot about breast cancer these days. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetimes, and there are millions living with it in the U.S. today alone. But did you know that there is more than one type of breast cancer?

I didn’t. I thought that breast cancer was all the same. I figured that if I did my monthly breast self-exams, and found no lump, I’d be fine.

Oops. It turns out that you don’t have to have a lump to have breast cancer. Six weeks ago, I went to my OB/GYN because my breast felt funny. It was red, hot, inflamed, and the skin looked…funny. But there was no lump, so I wasn’t worried. I should have been. After a round of antibiotics didn’t clear up the inflammation, my doctor sent me to a breast specialist and did a skin punch biopsy. That test showed that I have inflammatory breast cancer, a very aggressive cancer that can be deadly.

Inflammatory breast cancer is often misdiagnosed as mastitis because many doctors have never seen it before and consider it rare. “Rare” or not, there are over 100,000 women in the U.S. with this cancer right now; only half will survive five years. Please call your OB/GYN if you experience several of the following symptoms in your breast, or any unusual changes: redness, rapid increase in size of one breast, persistent itching of breast or nipple, thickening of breast tissue, stabbing pain, soreness, swelling under the arm, dimpling or ridging (for example, when you take your bra off, the bra marks stay – for a while), flattening or retracting of the nipple, or a texture that looks or feels like an orange (called peau d’orange). Ask if your GYN is familiar with inflammatory breast cancer, and tell her that you’re concerned and want to come in to rule it out.

There is more than one kind of breast cancer. Inflammatory breast cancer is the most aggressive form of breast cancer out there, and early detection is critical. It’s not usually detected by mammogram. It does not usually present with a lump. It may be overlooked with all of the changes that our breasts undergo during the years when we’re pregnant and/or nursing our little ones. It’s important not to miss this one.

Inflammatory breast cancer is detected by women and their doctors who notice a change in one of their breasts. If you notice a change, call your doctor today. Tell her about it. Tell her that you have a friend with this disease, and it’s trying to kill her. Now you know what I wish I had known before six weeks ago.

You don’t have to have a lump to have breast cancer.

Don't they realize there are important things like blogs & clicking buttons to worry about?? :P I kid, sorta. Hope you are enjoying your day!

Contest Winners & Hormonal Randomness

Updated: I actually won something! After spending way more time than I'm willing to admit clicking on contests, reading the posts {don't want to be rude or miss a detail like what you need to answer or comment on in order to win}, writing my responses, typing Thanks! 400+ times and almost always filling in some 'wejkeqi' so the blog knows I'm not a robot, losing track of where I left off, mr. linky weirding out, losing my place again, mr. linky back, losing my place again and finally saying - I've done as much as I can my eyes are beyond hurt and my fingers are tired and I can't stand the site of my computer anymore!

It was all worth it though. And why? Because of this. Go ahead click on it to see, I'll wait for you. Okay did you look? Really? Isn't it awesome?! I'm not even going to say what it is, you have to look. See?! It really is awesome! I have no idea what it's going to look like or what I'd want it to look like or how any of this works but I'm so excited. Please, go check out Tina's Snippets and see what she's about and what she may be able to do for you also. You can see what she's done here, here, here, and over here too. I don't know when it will be done because I'm sure she has other customers & another prize winner but I'm excited! Can you tell? Oh it's that obvious? w00t! Oh & big thanks to Rocks In My Dryer for hosting this great giveaway!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been a little MIA this week, not posting as often & not reading blogs as much. Now that Dog Days of Summer Bloggy Giveaway {Extravaganza Palooza All Consuming Contest Gone Wild} is over I can get back into my routine. Just as soon as I've checked all 400+ contests I entered to see if I won one. There was a total of 506 contests to enter, some of the prizes didn't interest me {books on dieting, knitting tools - I don't do either} but many of them entered, if not for myself than to give as a gift. This was some serious stuff folks. I tried to enter all that I was interested in but may have still missed some or many - I'm not sure. My eyes were tired all week from it & I think my eyeballs tried to leap out of my head at least once. As I'm posting this I'm refreshing Rocks In My Dryer to see new links to the winners posted. So far nothing. And still nothing.

What else is going on in life outside of contests? Watching a Mr. Linky for new posts is like watching water boil - really boring and seems to take even longer. I suppose I would get an e-mail if I actually won but someone may post a winner before e-mailing, ya never know. Anyways so other stuff that has nothing to do with drawings, contests or giveaways. So yesterday I attempted to scrap but my children were working against me. They didn't take their full naps, Michael didn't sleep at all and were very whiny & clingy and all up in my stuff. I love 'em and they're sweet and I wouldn't trade them for anything but is an hour - three for myself too much to ask? Naps seem to be more of an issue lately and so are my hormones so it's really a dangerous combination. I managed to pick out photos, paper, scalloped a piece of card stock and adhered four photos. Now the rest is in a pile waiting for me to finish it. I will try to later today I hope, if not then over the weekend. I'd like to have something to show for Masterpiece Monday esp since she got three pages done yesterday and will probably have close to 20 come Monday, okay she'd really love it if she had that many but considering she got 10 done in like 2 days I wouldn't put it past her.

And still nothing won. That's a Starbucks gift card, Target card, Rachel Ray cookbook, personalized notebook, & a fun drawing case for Michael that are gone. I'm also seeing results for contests I didn't enter and there are over 400 left so I'm still hoping! I'll keep you all updated since I'm sure you are just on the edge of your seats waiting to see if I won something. :P Thanks for stopping by!

What I've Been Up To

So it's been a few days since I posted and as much as I love seeing my scrappy pages it's time to get something new on here. Yesterday I had my Mary Kay party. I had two people show up and it was a lot of fun. I got some great practice on my presentation, got to know two more people and they both sounded interested in hostessing a party in the future. As a bonus my house was so clean! I've got another appointment set for Saturday so I'm excited. Another thing that I'm excited about is the HUGE ENORMOUS NOT SMALL AT ALL dog days of summer bloggy giveaway hosted by Rocks In My Dryer. Click on the cute button with the dog wearing the glasses to check it out. There are 448 people giving stuff away on their blogs, by the time I'm done writing this it will likely be closer to 600 as this is spreading like wildfire throughout the internet. It is just amazing. I haven't made it through them all - though I'm hoping by the time it's over I'll have entered all of the ones I'm interested in. There is something for everybody! Some things that I've seen range from home made items like bows, hair clips, gift tags, bags, totes, hats, blankets, jewelry and more that I can't remember right now. There were books of all kinds, cookbooks, inspiring books, fiction, non-fiction, marriage, pregnancy, children, etc. There were also a lot of pampering type items, lotions, body sprays, candles, bubble bath and other bath products. My favorite among the items of course are the scrappy ones. People are giving away how to books, kits, embellishments, papers and all kinds of fun stuff. Oh and there were also a lot of coffee & chocolate giveaways too. I was intrigued by a few giveaways that had mystery boxes or surprise gifts. Some blogs that I want to make note of are this one that's giving away a variety of items, this one giving away scrappy stuff, this one giving away a book & looks like a fun blog, this one giving away books & hinting to a big announcement, this one giving away scrappy stuff from her business, and this fun blog that is giving away a Scrapbooks etc Techniques Idea Book. Whew, that was a mouthful! Well I just about got that done before the kids got up from naps. Now I must go so I can get a few things done around here and start preparing for my party on Saturday. Plus Michael's room is still a MESS! I need to take some before photos so you'll understand why I will likely end up getting rid of half the toys in his room. I'm in need of a new organization plan in there and I think purging is the first step. More posts on that later. Thanks for stopping by!

Updated: Well, it was short lived. Thanks to all who clicked. I'm not sure how many clicks I ended up getting but I guess it wasn't enough. My kids think I'm a top momma & that's good enough for me.

I'm a Top Mommma!
woot! I'm a top momma! I've been waiting to get on this for quite a while now and when I did make it on I was in California and didn't know about it until I came back home and found out I had been booted. I'd really like to see just how long I can stay on here for so please help me out by clicking the button. And if you haven't signed up to be a Top Momma what are you waiting for? Go check it out!

Expecting Company Gets Me Cleaning

I'm picking up my mother in law from the airport today & she'll be staying with us until early Tuesday morning. We are all looking forward to the visit. She of course is excited to see her son & grandkids {and me too}. She also wants to check out Nashville & get her picture taken in front of the Grand ol' Opry. It will be fun to have a familiar face around. We'll have the park to go to, bowling for Michael's birthday, a museum we can visit, Nashville to tour and whatever else we can think of.

What I'm almost as excited about is all the cleaning I got done preparing for her visit. There's still a few things I want to do today like clearing a clutter corner in the front room and purging some of Michael's stuff but my whole kitchen is clean & all counters cleared off, even the usually cluttered flat surfaces in the front room are neat & tidy. Our bedroom has improved some but we'll need some storage solutions to get it looking any better.

So while she's visiting I may not be posting much. I want to get a meme on here that I was tagged with a little later today. I definitely won't have the time to read posts as much but sometime Tuesday I'll be catching up. Thanks for stopping by!
