Talk About Tuesday - fun & games
I was going to keep TAT about organizing my house, mostly as a motivator to get stuff done, but since I'm not at home to organize for a while I found something else to talk about. As my regular readers {who would have thought I'd have regular readers?} know I'm visiting family out of state until early January, it's about 6 weeks total. My family is an interesting one and I'll have to talk about that another time - maybe next Tuesday? Anyways, one thing my family likes doing together is playing games. My parents have a closet full of games and we usually play at least one a day. So far we've played Risk, Scrabble, Rat A Tat Cat, Yahtzee, Apples to Apples & Monopoly - some several times. I was very close to winning Risk but took a risk and was this close to winning but a few bad rolls of the dice and I lost. I did win Monopoly & am the current Yahtzee champion though. I also should have won Scrabble but my grandma got sneaky & put down a word that isn't a word on her last turn. I would have challenged her but it was late and my eyes were hardly staying open. After collecting our leftover points she won by 11, I was winning by 11 before then. What word did she play you ask? Ene, see I told you it wasn't a word. I don't know why my stepmom didn't challenge her, I think she was tired also. My 13 year old brother didn't challenge her because he already lost and didn't care anymore. My family has fun playing games but definitely gets competitive. I wouldn't play Risk with them for the longest time because they seemed to argue so much over it. The kids like playing games also. I've put some pictures below of some of them playing a couple games.
Does your family like playing games? What are some of your favorites? Are you competetive or do you play just for fun without keeping score? By the way, I don't see how you couldn't keep score. Thanks for visiting & check out the Lazy Organizer for more TAT.

13 and then you said:
UNO is one of my favorites! Looks like you guys are having so much fun. Let me know when you're rolling back through so we can do lunch.
We love games...usually when people come over for dinner the games come out. Lots of Cranium in our house..Pictionary and Apples to Apple too. I'm searching for a new game for Christmas...maybe I'll take a Risk :)
Great pics of your kiddos!
I am picky about games, there are a lot I don't care for, but one I do really love is Pit. Mostly I prefer table games like ping pong, air hockey, billiards, etc to card/board type games.
What a fun post!
Have you played Take 5? It's like speed scrabble. You use the same tiles from the scrabble game. Each person just builds on their own words. You can lay out your five tiles any way to spell words. As soon as someone uses all 5 of their tiles, they yell "Take 5" - it's like speed scrabble and really fun.
You keep going until all the tiles are gone from the draw pile and someone has used all their tiles - then count up your unused letters for your score.
We are big Uno and Twister fans in this house!
I am NOT a games person, but my mother in-law and sisters-in-law all are, so I find myself playing games quite regularly when we're visiting down there. I find I actually enjoy it! I suppose it's got more to do with the people I'm spending time with than the activity.
Incidentally, depending on how you play Scrabble, ene could count as an actual word. It's an acceptable abbreviation for east-northeast and it's also a chemistry suffix. (like propylene, benzene, etc.) It's a wonder I don't like that game better -- I'm totally into reading my dictionary!!! (And that is not a joke -- I'm a little geeky that way!)
Glad to hear you're having a great time!
I love playing Apples to Apples with my children. My siblings and I are gearing up for a HUGE Scrabble tournament over Christmas.
I love playing games, but Hubby doesn't. I get to play with the nieces when they are here after school, so I guess that keeps me off his case. Right now, the current favorites are Trouble, Sorry, and Yahtzee. Although the 6 year old doesn't always understand the rules.
i LOVE games, but i find i don't play them very often...my hubby hates games and my family doesn't typically play. my in-laws do though, so i enjoy it when i can.
glad you're having a great time with your family!
We heart games in my family. Have you played Settlers of Catan or Ticket to Ride - the European version? These are our current favorites.
Your family is so cute! How fun! I love games! My hubs and I USED to play chess all the time after he taught me, but now he gets mad cause I kick his butt every time ;-)
I LOVE the picture of Lydia "playing" the duck game LOL
I'm glad your family likes playing games. My family is pretty boring. They sit around and that's about it. haha
Thanks for your comment on my blog. We didn't want to keep her in the kennel, so we had a baby gate up to keep her in the kitchen. But she kept jumping over it. Then we had 2 baby gates in the kitchen one on top of the other. it worked for a while, but one day I came home from work to see that she chewed through the gate. (I posted a blog about it!) So we started putting her in the kennel, which has worked for the last month or so, but obviously she didn't like that either.
My kids love to play games too but they insist on changing the rules. You should see what they do to Apples to Apples. It drives me crazy which makes them laugh all the louder at me. Games - better than watching the tube!
