To be honest I was nervous and a little overwhelmed for about a day. Not sure if we'd be able to pull it off, would guests come with such short notice, was I completely insane to take on such a task when my list was already so full? For all I knew it could have been a disaster. But you know what? I am SO glad that I didn't let any of those worries stop me from taking time out of my busy-ness to do something for a friend. Esp a friend who is always so willing to help others and be a support. Hosting the shower actually made me feel more like I was at home. Back home I'd have jumped on the opportunity to help plan an event - any event, I just love party planning. I didn't think that I would be doing that sort of thing out here. But in less than a year I've made friends, some who I really hope to keep in touch with no matter where the Army or life may take us, and have started to find my niche. I really am thankful for this time out of my comfort zone, it's stretching me and I'm learning a lot about myself. Of course I miss my family & friends but have learned to appreciate this time for growth and enjoy my new friends.
Are there any 'comfort zone' areas in your life that you have or want to step out of? If so I encourage you to give it a shot, you just may be surprised at the results. Thanks for visiting!

And you say you're not much of a cook! That's a beautiful cake. Glad you are spreading your wings...these women will certainly be important to you in the next year!
That's a very cute 'cake!' You're so creative!! And what a thoughtful gift for a new friend. Good job, stepping out, stepping up, and making new and lasting friendships! Like leendaluu said, you will be very important to each other in the coming months.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for my shower. You have no idea what it means to me to have such wonderful new friends here.
What a great sentiment... and you're right. Entering a new phase of your life is always scary (being here in Colorado sometimes I'm so lonely I could cry) but stepping out and working at making connections is what makes a new place a home! Kuddos to you!
Isn't it funny when somethings we doubt will turn out right turn out to be really good while other things we expect to be great can disappoint? You did a nice thing for someone else - maybe that's why it feels good.
My hat is off to you for being the upbeat, solid, good humored mom you are. And it's OK to be mean mom sometimes. My mid-20s now thank me for those times and often wish they'd paid more attention at the time! If you think back, you'll also remember times that you thought your mom was mean, but now you know why. Hang in there! You are on the right track! I'm adding you to my prayer list, girl.
I'm new to the blog world, so I don't have very many blogging friends yet. I followed a link here from a comment you made on another mommy blog site. I got tagged earlier, and now I'm TAGGING YOU and challenging you to tell us 8 little known and/or interesting things about yourself because your life and site seem very interesting and I'd love to learn more about you!
Please check back on my blog for details.
If you don't want to participate, I definitely understand. But if you do decide to, please let me know so I can check out your answers. Peace and Blessings! Damama T at http://damama2all.blogspot.com/
Good for you!! Sometimes things seem overhelming until we just get up and DO IT and then we realize it's actually kinda fun!
p.s. I tagged you for something on my blog, under the post 'why i do what i do.'
